Lagavulin Distillery
Lagavulin is another famous distillery found on the south east corner of the Isle of Islay. Officially licensed in 1816 it is believed that illegal distilling had taken place on the site from around the early 1740’s. The single malt produced has been and is a major contributor to the White Horse blends familiar to many.
A range of single malt vintages are available and each is distinctively Lagavulin – probably the most pungent of all Islay malts, Lagavulin is not for the faint-hearted but inspires fanatical devotion in its many followers.
