Glenmorangie Distillery
Glenmorangie in gaelic means ‘Glen of Tranquility’ and the distillery is indeed to be found in tranquil countryside overlooking the Dornoch Firth, near Tain in the north of Scotland. Legal distillation commenced in 1843 although it appears that illegal stills were present from 1700 onwards.
Glenmorangie is the second largest producer of single malt whisky and the brand is the fastest growing in the UK. Recently rebranded and using a new bottle design growth is likely to continue.
A wide range of ages and finishes are available from the distillery which pioneered the use of differently sourced oak casks – so there is something here for everyone.
